Baptism

We believe that baptism is an act of obedience to the teachings of Jesus. It is a special symbol that should follow and give testimony of the decision to trust Him for salvation. When we are baptized, we declare to all that see or hear about it that we are not ashamed of the decision we have made. Baptism symbolizes the change that knowing Jesus brings to us, and demonstrates our commitment to obey and follow Him whatever the cost.

On the day that the Brethren church was started, Alexander Mack and the believers with him baptized each other by trine immersion. Since that day our church has continued to practice baptism by trine immersion for those who believe and follow God.

We believe that the Bible teaches this method of baptizing and that church history also supports it. (Matthew 28:19)

Prior to baptism here at Grace Church at Willow Valley each candidate for baptism must complete an age-appropriate workbook and meet with one of our pastors or elders.
